What happened in Dresden in that autumn of 1989? The "October Film" is a search for clues that creates an image of collective memories from a multitude of individual memories. October 8, 1989 went down in history as an outstanding event. For the first time, the spiral of violence was broken by the peaceful demonstration of the population. This "big bang of democracy" was an important signal for that legendary demonstration that took place in Leipzig just one day later. The film makes it possible to understand the social upheaval that East German society was going through. The outbreak of violence at the Central Station, the orgies of beatings by the so-called state organs and the arrests of so many peaceful demonstrators. Finally, the phase of dialogue and round tables, and ultimately the dissolution of the GDR power apparatus. An authentic collage of images and sound is assembled from a variety of photographs, bearing witness to the moving events in Dresden in the fall of 1989.
